What Kyanite means
Kyanite's other name, disthene, means 'two strengths': a knife will scratch a blade along its length but not across it. That split nature backs anyone who has to be gentle and firm at once.
Emotional properties
Picture a blade of kyanite across your palm, blue streaked with white and about the length of a finger. It grew straight, and it will not bend to fit a curve. Some decisions work the same way, and pretending otherwise only frays them. Give the clean answer once, then put the stone down.
Spiritual properties
Kyanite forms deep in the crust, where clay-rich rock is squeezed under enough pressure to become something new. Bring it a question you have carried for weeks, ask it once aloud, and then stay in the silence after it rather than asking again. What you hear in that silence is often your own answer, arriving late. Let one clear thought reach the air before you reach for a second.
Physical properties
Kyanite splits along its length with very little pressure, a blade of blue that can shear apart if bent even slightly across the grain. Lay a thumb flat along the blade during a task that wants a single, unbroken line of attention, editing a paragraph down to its point, following one wire through a tangle of others. Its fragility asks for a light hold, not a tight one.
Care and cleansing
Kyanite's blades split along their length and snap if bent, so handle it by the flat rather than bending it, and keep it away from a hard knock. Clean it under the tap and charge it in morning light, then lay it flat in a padded box, where nothing presses on it.
A question to sit with
If you said the circling thought once, out loud, what would change?
