What Aragonite means
Aragonite grows in pale sprays that radiate from a single point, like a firework caught mid-burst, sharing its chemistry with calcite but not its shape. First described in Spain, in the region of Aragon, it favours branching over layering.
Emotional properties
Growth rarely moves in a straight line, and aragonite's starburst clusters make the same point in mineral form, a dozen directions pursued at once and none of them wrong. Beside a stalled plan it makes the point plainly, a dozen directions splayed out and none of them apologising. Progress that looks scattered from close up often reads as a single shape from far enough away.
Spiritual properties
Same chemistry, different shape: aragonite is proof that starting material is not the same as destiny. Ask it where you have mistaken your circumstances for your shape. The same ground can grow a smooth crystal or a starburst, and neither is more correct than the other.
Physical properties
Aragonite's clusters bristle with dozens of thin points radiating outward, more interesting to look at than to hold in a closed fist. Trace a single ray by eye, from the centre out to its tip, when restlessness has nowhere to go. That small, repeatable path gives a restless mind something worth following.
Care and cleansing
Aragonite's points are brittle and can snap if the cluster is dropped or knocked against something harder. Rinse it briefly under cool water rather than soaking it, since a long soak or a splash of vinegar can dull this soft carbonate stone. Charge it on a bed of raw quartz overnight, and store it where nothing heavier rests against it.
