What Blue lace agate means
Blue lace agate bands white through the palest blue, laid down in the same slow way as its darker cousins, though its markings stay finer, more like lace than stone. It softens whatever needs saying but has been hard to say.
Emotional properties
Some feelings arrive too large for the words available, and blue lace agate does not try to make the feeling smaller, only the sentence easier to start. Worn near the throat before a talk that matters, it takes the edge off the first few words, the ones that are always the hardest to say. After that, the rest tends to follow on its own.
Spiritual properties
Air governs this stone, and its lesson sits closer to breath than to force: that gentleness can move a room as surely as insistence can, just more slowly. It rewards a room where no one is racing to fill the silence, the kind of quiet that lets the truer sentence arrive instead of the first one. Mercury, its planet, carries messages; this stone makes sure they are worth the trip.
Physical properties
Blue lace agate is fine-grained and cool, light enough that its weight barely registers in a closed hand. Hold it loosely at the base of the throat and match your breath to its stillness when a held breath has been sitting there too long. The lace is finest at the edges, where the blue thins almost to white.
Care and cleansing
Charge blue lace agate in soft morning light rather than a full day of sun, since dyed pieces sold under the name can fade. As chalcedony it takes a plain rinse under the tap. A pouch of its own keeps its polish bright.
A question to sit with
Which sentence would you say today if the first word came easily?
