What Blue calcite means
Soft enough to mark with a knife blade, blue calcite breaks along its cleavage into neat, slanted blocks the colour of a sky too pale to commit. It asks for a slower pace, the one soft things need.
Emotional properties
The drawer is halfway to a slam when the cool of blue calcite in your other palm buys you half a second. A piece kept close during a rising temper works less like a fix than a pause button, pale and cool against a hand that wants to lash out. It does not deny the frustration, only slows down what you do with it.
Spiritual properties
Blue calcite's gift in meditation is permission to arrive late. A question sat with long enough answers itself before you force it, the way water finds its own level without being told to. No one here is keeping time.
Physical properties
Blue calcite is soft as stones go, barely holding an edge, and it feels almost powdery-smooth against the skin compared to a hard quartz. Rest a piece against the ribs at the end of a wound-up day; it brings gentleness, not strength, and that is the point. It asks to be handled softly, which is exactly the instruction a tense body usually needs too.
Care and cleansing
Softness is blue calcite's main caution: keep it away from harder stones and away from vinegar, lemon juice and cleaning sprays, since acid etches calcite. Skip a long soak, since water can dull its polish over time, and cleanse it with a soft cloth. Charge it in moonlight rather than strong sun, and store it wrapped, away from anything heavier.
A question to sit with
How long does your temper need before it cools enough to speak?
