What Sodalite means
Sodalite gets its name from the sodium in it, and its deep blue is often threaded with white veins. Its best-known deposit, near Bancroft, Ontario, was found in 1892.
Emotional properties
An argument replayed after the fact tends to grow new, sharper lines it never actually had. Sodalite's cool blue asks you to set the replay down rather than sharpen it further. When the replay starts again, say aloud the one line that was actually spoken, and stop there.
Spiritual properties
Before you write in a journal, set sodalite on the open page and wait until you know the first sentence exactly. Most of what clouds a spiritual question is phrasing, the same worry dressed up six different ways. Write the plain version once, and the page usually has room left for an answer.
Physical properties
Most chakra charts put sodalite at the throat, and it earns that place before any long stretch of talking. Lay a piece in the hollow at the base of your neck and hum one low note until you feel the buzz under the stone. A voice warmed up that way is readier for a lecture, a morning on the phones or a bedtime story read aloud.
Care and cleansing
Some sodalite pales in strong sun, and quartz will scratch it, so it belongs out of the sun and away from harder stones. Wash it quickly in water with a drop of mild soap; to charge it, hum one low note over it. Between uses, keep it in a felt-lined box.
