Wheel of Fortune, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Wheel of Fortune means

Its subject is a mechanism and not a person, which changes what it can be asked. Medieval writers used the same emblem to make a moral argument: fortune keeps no ledger, rewards nothing, and can withdraw on the same terms it gave. What the card names is the whole category of conditions no one person set and no one person can negotiate with, which is a larger category than most accounts of a life admit. A wheel has one still place in it, and the deck puts that forward as somewhere to stand — not a promise, simply the only part of the turning that is not being turned.

Upright

The wheel is moving. Meet the changing conditions with flexibility, notice the opening, and remember that a season is not a permanent identity.

Reversed

A repeating loop is showing you where agency can return. Name the pattern, then change one part of the turn instead of waiting for luck to do it.

A question to sit with

What cycle are you ready to interrupt?
