What Two of Wands means
An Ace admits no scale, since nothing stands beside it to be measured against. Two supplies a second term, and size, direction and distance become sayable in the suit for the first time. Comparison is a dispassionate operation, and this is where it enters a suit built for the opposite: the Two sets a move already made against a move not yet made and asks which of them is larger, a question fire has no equipment for and very little patience with. What this card contributes to its suit is measurement, and measurement leaves it unusually still.
