Three of Wands, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Three of Wands means

Most of a Three is elapsed time. The Ace happens at once and the Two is a decision, but a Three has parts that must occur in an order, and ordering takes as long as it takes whether or not anyone is willing to spend it. That is an awkward condition for fire, whose characteristic speed is of no use at all against a process that simply has a length. The stretch this card covers is the one during which the work is neither being done nor finished — waiting that belongs to the task itself, and cannot be delegated, hurried or skipped. Patience here is arithmetic, not virtue.

Upright

Your first effort creates a horizon to watch. Look for a response, build useful connections, and prepare to meet an opening with practical follow-through.

Reversed

An expected response may be delayed or different from your hopes. Review your assumptions and adjust the scale without discarding the original purpose.

A question to sit with

What response or resource would help this effort grow?
