What The Magician means
Under Mercury this is the deck’s card of translation: the claim that something held in the mind can be said, and something said can be made. Its concern is competence, the working traffic between intention and matter, skill that actually reaches the world instead of circling inside it. Older accounts never separated the magus from the showman, and this one does not either — persuasion, craft and sleight of hand share most of their technique, and it declines to say which is in use. One is the first assertion in the sequence: the point where a thing stops being possible and starts being done.
Upright
You already have a useful tool in hand. Name the result you want, gather your attention, and turn one small action into momentum.
Reversed
Scattered energy is diluting your influence. Choose one honest intention and make sure your tools are serving it rather than performing around it.
