The Hanged Man, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What The Hanged Man means

A suspension that was agreed to. Voluntary sacrifice is its whole content: something of value given up on purpose, without guarantees, in exchange for a kind of seeing not available on any other terms. Odin hung nine nights for the runes, and the shape of that arrangement is very old. Of the three majors given an element instead of a planet or a sign, this one takes water, which holds no position of its own. The oddity is that nothing in it happens, and that is precisely the content — it sits one place before Death, and the two have always been read together. What is surrendered is position, not life.

Upright

A pause can reveal the angle effort has hidden. Release the need to force timing and let a different perspective rearrange the problem.

Reversed

Waiting has become a substitute for choosing. Keep the insight you gained, then make the small move that turns suspension into change.

What could you see if you stopped trying to solve it head-on?
