Ten of Swords, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Ten of Swords means

Arguments run out. The Ten is what is left when they have: a matter closed by exhaustion rather than by verdict, every reason gone through and each of them leaving things where they already were. It registers as flatness more often than as pain, pain being partly the activity of still contesting something. A suit that works by taking things apart arrives at last at a thing entirely taken apart, no version of it left whole enough to work with further. The older lists set down ruin, and the ending of a matter, and stopped there, which is an accurate place to stop.

Upright

A difficult cycle may have reached the limit of what it can teach in its present form. Acknowledge the ending and begin with the immediate care that is available.

Reversed

The end of a hard chapter can leave you braced for its return. Make room for gradual recovery while noticing what no longer has to be carried forward.

A question to sit with

What can stop being my task now that this chapter is ending?
