Seven of Swords, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Seven of Swords means

A thing kept from a group has to be kept repeatedly. Concealment is maintenance: it is performed again at every occasion where it might come out, and the work scales with how many people must not know and for how long. The Seven counts that arrangement as an expense rather than as a manoeuvre. Moon in Aquarius sets the pack’s most private body among assemblies and shared rules — something personal carried through machinery built for what everyone holds together. An alibi has to be produced in the same words every time it is asked for, and the remembering is a job for one person.

Upright

A thoughtful strategy may work better than a direct contest. Be clear about the difference between protecting privacy and avoiding a responsibility that needs to be shared.

Reversed

An indirect approach may be reaching its limit. Consider what becomes simpler if you acknowledge the difficult fact or ask openly for what you need.

A question to sit with

Where would greater honesty make my strategy stronger?
