Nine of Cups, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Nine of Cups means

Nothing can be lost until it has been had. The Nine is the point at which the suit stops reaching and holds something, and holding introduces an exposure that did not exist while the thing was still out of reach: a state that can be kept is a state that can be taken. The exposure is proportionate to the contentment, since the same holding is what both are measured against. Anyone totting up what has come together is by the same act totting up what is now available to go. The Nine’s plenty is lodged in a person, which is a perishable place to keep anything.

Upright

Make room to enjoy what has already come together. Contentment can be a practice of receiving an ordinary pleasure without immediately raising the standard.

Reversed

An achieved wish may not feel the way you imagined. Ask what kind of satisfaction is actually yours, beyond the image of having enough.

A question to sit with

What is quietly satisfying before I compare it with anything else?
