Four of Swords, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Four of Swords means

Ground left fallow is being kept out of use, which is an arrangement with a purpose behind it: idleness puts nothing back into the soil, it only stops more being drawn out, and the stock recovers because the demand stopped. The Four applies that to attention. A mind cannot be instructed to stop; it can only be left without material, and what the interval returns is proportion — the size of a difficulty relative to everything else, a judgement unavailable from inside the work. Convalescence is the ordinary name for the arrangement: a stretch of time with a start, an end, and one instruction, which is to stay put.

Upright

Step back long enough for thought to settle. A deliberate pause can restore perspective and help you return with a clearer sense of what matters.

Reversed

Returning too quickly may leave the original strain untouched. Plan a sustainable re-entry, or recognize that a period of withdrawal has served its purpose.

A question to sit with

What would make this a restorative pause?
