What The Moon means
Borrowed light, and everything that follows from borrowing it. The Moon governs unreliable perception, not another person’s deception but the mind’s own editing, which runs hardest at night and on tired days. The card named for the Moon is not the card the Moon is attributed to — that is the High Priestess — and Pisces holds this one instead, a sign with no fixed edges to speak of. The faculty that distorts a situation is the same one that makes images, and older writers never fully separated lunacy from imagination. Some things are genuinely hidden; others are merely unlit, and from inside the dark the two feel identical.
Upright
Not every shape in the dark is a threat. Move slowly, check the story your fear is telling, and trust what becomes clear through patient attention.
Reversed
The fog is beginning to lift. Let new information revise the story, and avoid turning a half-seen worry into a permanent conclusion.
A question to sit with
What part of this story still needs daylight?
Traditional attribution
Pisces. Attributions follow the Golden Dawn with Waite's numbering.
