The Empress

What The Empress means
Venus here is fertility in the widest sense, not romance: appetite, abundance, and the body treated as a legitimate source of knowledge instead of an inconvenience. The Empress is the argument that creation is physical labour, conducted in time and in matter, by someone who gets tired. Past the labour comes surplus. Nothing can be given away, wasted, enjoyed or wagered out of a supply that exactly meets its obligations, so abundance is the precondition of generosity and not its reward, and wanting a great deal is treated here as productive rather than greedy.
Upright
Something grows when it receives steady care. Make room for pleasure, making, and the relationships that return your energy instead of only asking for it.
Reversed
Your giving may have outpaced your reserves. Restore the soil: rest, receive, and let a good thing develop at a human pace.
