Knight of Swords, from the Ishtar Insights tarot deck

What Knight of Swords means

Every reply has to engage the one before it, and twenty minutes of that leaves the thing under contest a remark made ten minutes ago rather than the question anybody arrived with. An exchange develops a gradient, and it runs away from the subject. The other three courts in this suit each carry a second element that sits outside the talking and can be consulted; air of air carries none, so the only thing a move here can be checked against is the move before it. Each step follows correctly, every participant has behaved impeccably, and the position finally reached would be unrecognisable to whoever opened. A transcript read a year later is largely about itself.

Upright

A clear aim can mobilize decisive effort. Keep the purpose in view while checking that speed leaves room for accuracy and the people affected.

Reversed

Urgency may be making disagreement feel like an obstacle to defeat. Slow the exchange enough to hear what matters before committing to a course.

A question to sit with

What might I miss if I insist on moving at this speed?

Traditional attribution

Air of Air. Attributions follow the Golden Dawn with Waite's numbering.
